Moving into part-part-whole relationships - we are looking at making a given number using two sets (3 red bears and 2 blue bears makes 5 bears and also 4 green bears and 1 yellow bear makes 5 bears). For both grades this is manipulative-based but also moves into writing equations for grade 1s.
