Peace

In anticipation of Remembrance Day, we have been talking about peace in class.  Our ideas about peace at this age are best centered around the senses.  What does peace feel like, look like, sound like.  To illustrate this concept for them, we looked at a slide show of fairly random pictures of scenery, and people interacting and asked, is this peaceful?  What do you imagine it sounds like here?

From this, they came up with ideas about peace in their own lives.  Kindergarten children made drawings illustrating when they feel most peaceful and Grade 1s illustrated what it means to say that, "peace is in you to give."  In other words, how can we, as individuals, bring peace to others?

The themes they came up with were family, friends, and contributing to a clean and healthy environment.  This is a random sample of some journals.
